The evolutionary perspective does force us to confront the challenge of denying design. Design-perspective may be useful in some cases, but with respect to the mind, it can introduce bias and confusion as people project what they want to see.
Prediction is an example of where we may get confused. "Prediction" is a purpose - it implies accuracy and precision are desiderata, and the mind is designed to predict well. I disagree, and discussed why here. We can get around the need for prediction if we only build expectations of what we want to happen. There is too much in the world to predict for us to build a model around impartial prediction. The key is to focus on "predicting" what is useful for us.
