I think you're 100% right, and since it is not a trivial difference, I updated the line to say that. The perspective you're espousing makes a kind of epistemology/ontology distinction.

It also, of course, raises the question of how you know something is "truly" useful to you except by the fact that you feel forced to update it. However, the reason I updated the line is that I think people's notion of "reality" is constructed entirely out of such "forced" updates, in various ways.
